15 September 2010

14 September 2010 – To support its further business growth, Rus Aviation placed an order with EADS EFW for the passenger-to-freighter conversion of an Airbus A300-600 (MSN 626). The respective contract includes another conversion and is part of a multi-million dollar fleet rollover programme of the Middle East company. The first aircraft, formerly operated by a US airline, already arrived at EADS EFWs facility in Dresden (Germany) and will enter the conversion line in mid-September 2010. We are pleased to welcome Rus Aviation as a new customer from the Middle East. Having chosen the popular A300 wide-body freighter to meet its growing airfreight demands, Rus Aviation will take full advantage of the converted Airbus freighters great potential, said Andreas Sperl, President and CEO of EADS EFW. Saleh al Aroud, proprietor and owner of Rus Aviation stated: This is one of several aircraft planned to operate for Iraqi Airways on routes between Asia, Europe and Africa. As we believe in the full recovery and a strong future of the air cargo business, we are very interested in expanding our fleet with further Airbus freighter conversions in the long-range segment. As of today, EADS has delivered more than 160 converted freighter aircraft to 30 customers worldwide.
